Course Description

Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety aims to equip learners with an understanding of the key principles of health and safety policy including the internal, external and change factors that influence practice, and how these are operationalized in an organisation’s health and safety systems. Highlighting a range of factors that influence health and safety behaviours, performance and culture in the workplace and develop skills in learners so that they may be able to evaluate the health and safety culture and performance within an organisation. Learners will know about the concept of monitoring and also the monitoring techniques and will be able to perform audit of the workplace.

Learner will know about the ways so that they may perform Safety audits and Safety Review systems in the workplace. They will also get deep understanding of the Emergency Response and First aid Procedures and will be able to develop an Emergency Action Plan.

At the end of this program, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the strategies and techniques of risk control.
  • Understand the models of loss causation, analysis of loss data and the importance of incident investigation.
  • Understand the concept and need and methods of Safety Review
  • Understand the range of factors to consider to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Understand safe storage, handling and management of hazardous substances, including biological agents.
  • Understand safe management of work equipment and machinery.
  • Understand the concept and Importance of Emergency Response
  • Know about the Fire safety procedures

QUALIFICATION STRUCTURE

The Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety consists of 10 Mandatory units making a combined total of 60 credits, 600 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 220 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification

Note:

TQT: Represents the number of notional hours expected as required to complete a qualification.
GLH: Represents the number of hours a trainer is available to teach and supervise the learner working on a qualification.
Credit: Represents the number of credits which may be awarded to a learner to successfully complete the qualification

* One credit is equal to the 10 hours of TQT.

Assessment Criteria:

The qualification assessment criteria is assignment based, but to achieve a pass, the learner must fulfill all the learning requirements of each unit, and at the end of every unit an interview will be conducted as an evidence to ensure that the work truly belongs to the learner.
